At TEDx NTUA, I had the chance to speak about how a place is never a single entity, but rather the convolution of its many parts—its people, spaces, and interactions. Drawing from my background in Architecture and Landscape Architecture, I explored the concept of placemaking: how design can shape not just the physical environment but also the social character of a place.
My focus was on simplicity, adaptability, and bottom-up systems that empower communities to take part in shaping their own cities. I shared ideas and practices that highlight how sustainable public spaces can remain flexible and resilient, evolving in response to both environmental and social challenges.
Through this talk, my aim was to show that cities are more than just built environments—they are living ecosystems of relationships, capable of transformation when people are given the tools and voice to shape them.
Being heard and engaging minds made the talk truly worthwhile. I hope this speech will inspire us to rethink our relationship with our environment in both time and space, guiding us toward co-creating more inclusive and ethical urban landscapes.
