Stockholm ImpACT Days – Re Cities | 28 September–2 October

Yesterday, 30 September, LandmArch. had the opportunity to take part in a day that brought together entrepreneurs, researchers, businesses, public-sector representatives and organisations around one shared question:
How do we build a city that is sustainable, resilient and competitive, while also being an attractive place to live, work, invest and do business?
Here are some of the key insights we’re taking away:
👉 Resilience is systemic.
It is about the relationships between people, ecosystems, organisations, infrastructure, the economy and culture.
👉 Resilience needs to evolve over time.
Rapid changes and long-term processes influence one another. Addressing today’s challenges must go hand in hand with our ability to adapt and transform over the long term.
👉 Win-win solutions are not always possible.
Resilience means navigating competing priorities, making consequences visible and addressing power imbalances.
👉 Density and proximity create opportunities – but also trade-offs.
A dense city can generate significant value, but it can also contribute to rising housing prices, for example. This is why urban development needs to be understood as an interconnected system.
👉 Collaboration can create scale.
Reuse, data sharing and new forms of collaboration can drive innovation and amplify impact.
👉 Innovation also has a footprint.
AI and emerging technologies create opportunities, but also raise questions about energy, resources and their wider impact on systems.
👉 Culture matters.
Art, culture, sport and the creative industries can help us connect emotionally with complex issues, strengthen our sense of belonging and imagine new futures.
The “The Resilient City” workshop, which also formed part of the ongoing preparations for Stockholm Resilience Week 2027, strongly resonated with LandmArch.’s perspective. Through my participation, I had the opportunity to share our thoughts on resilience and a more inclusive city, while exchanging ideas with entrepreneurs and advisors from #BusinessWithImpact at #ImpactHubStockholm.
For LandmArch., resilience is not just about adapting to change. It is also about daring to question the systems that shape that change.
Who sets the agenda for how our cities develop?
Whose interests are represented?
Who has access to the city’s resources and opportunities?
Who holds the power to shape the city of the future?
Re Cities also means daring to challenge established structures – rather than simply following trends that are already taking shape.
To create resilient and inclusive cities, we need to ask not only how we should transform our cities, but also who that transformation is for, on whose terms it takes place, and who gets the opportunity to influence it.
Now, we look ahead to Stockholm Resilience Week 2027.
